Two investment bankers join forces in the most active advisory boutique in Romania.

Two bankers who headed the investment divisions of the banks most present in the M&A market have decided to join forces and compete on their own with the big players in Romania, which assists deals worth more than one billion euros annually.

The project was born in 2017, when Bogdan Iliescu, head of Corporate Finance at BRD Groupe Societe Generale, decided to go private. Two years later, he was joined as a partner by Alin Pop, former head of the Investment Banking and Corporate Finance Division at UniCredit.

BI Corporate Finance’s focus is to assist predominantly local entrepreneurs in a market dominated by foreign names, offering direct involvement from two specialists with over 40 years of combined experience in the financial and investment sector.

“Romania has been a growing market over the last decade and more and more Romanian companies have managed to develop to a level where they either directly attract the interest of big international players or are looking for a partner for development, such as local or international investment funds. In either case, the local entrepreneur needs to have a professional at his side, who can guide him through all the intricacies of a transaction and, above all, help him to maximize the results of a sale.”
